The First House of Natal Chart

The First House (Naturally ruled by the power of Aries) represents our outer Identity, outer expression, how others see and perceive us and prominent features that reflect in ones external life, personality and appearance.

It is usually the first impression that others may get from us beyond what we may actually think or feel. Many times the AC describes where our external identity fits in within ourselves or our relations.

What determines the genesis of your natal chart and your 1st house is your AC/ Rising sign, which is calculated by your exact birth time.

(The exact degree and sign that rises on the eastern horizon at the moment of your birth.) Your Ascendant (AC) is where your First house begins, it expresses the external persona and even appearance of the native. This may be what others see as your shell or your outer mask before getting to know the deeper intricacies about you.

When calculating your Ascendant sign keep in mind that signs change approx. every 1-2 hours. Within that time you may vary between the 30 degrees of that sign. If uncertain it may change the position of planetary aspects beyond the First house.
